There are many ways to try to lose weight. Many work, many do not. I have spent my entire life trying to slim down. One evening I saw the Six Week Body Makeover by Michael Thurmond infomercial and ordered the kit. I had a cruise coming up in four months and decided to try this to lose some of my extra. At a size, ten I was far from being comfortable wearing a bathing suit. I will start this out by telling you I did lose all the weight I wanted. By the time, I left for the trip I was a petite size 6 and had a fabulous two-piece bathing suit to wear. I looked great. However, this weight loss is not the easy fairy tale you may think. First thing you need to do when you get the kit is figure out what metabolism type you are. After you have answered all the questions, you will be given your body type that will tell you how you eat for the next six weeks. I was the slowest metabolism type there was. This information will tell what you can eat at each meal. You will need to be very meticulous and weigh out and portion out everything according to this plan.

The key is eating many small meals. Every 2 to 3 hours you eat a small meal. This was very difficult for me. To combat the urges to cheat I packed all my little meals for the day and took them with me. Another piece to this puzzle is you must cut out all sugar and salt. Therefore, I ate very spicy food on the Michael Thurmond diet. These meals are very small and take a lot of getting used to.

The workouts for this diet program are actually very easy. I used the video with exercise bands. For the cardio, I marched in place in front of my TV for the allotted time. The fact that this is all you needed to do for the Six Week Body Makeover was great. I was that girl that always tried to get out of gym class, so I was never one for working out.

I was very strict on following this diet. My goal of being able to be comfortable on the cruise was too important for me to slip. I had a great time trying on these smaller sizes and buying them for the trip. A petite size 6, I would have never guessed it was possible.

Now comes the downfall to the story. Keeping the weight off is what everyone is the most concerned about. I will tell you; unless you want to keep up with the ultra restrictive diet, you will gain the weight back and possibly more. On my cruise, I decided to enjoy my vacation and eat normally. I did not go over board but I added salt and a little bit of sugar back into my diet. A definite no, on the Michael Thurmond diet. The cruise was a weeklong and by the end of it, I was barely fitting into a size 8. This was weight coming back with a vengeance.

Yes, the Six Week Body Makeover by Michael Thurmond does work to lose weight. The diet is very restrictive on what you will be able to eat. Being able to be very disciplined is paramount in losing weight this way. The only way to keep all the weight off is to stay on the eating plan. The choice is yours. Is the great weight loss worth the sacrifice? My overwhelming choice is no.
